Internet - MYP4 Teacher Natércia Piva

Internet - Daniela Porsche Leal
Today internet is essential. The invention of the internet has brought a big evolution to people's lives. By using the internet you can do many things without leaving home. Nowadays many people can work at home, do shopping, pay bills, talk to friends who live in other cities without leaving home, just using the internet.
The internet has some disadvantages too. When you are on the Orkut, for example, many times you don't have privacy, because everybody can see your profile, your pictures, the messages that your friends sent to you, anyone can know everything about your life.
Some people still don't know how to use the internet, mainly elderly people, while young people know about the advantages and disadvantages of it.Even so, internet is great and I think everybody should use it, because this virtual world is amazing!

The internet is the best invention of the 20th century. It helps us to do research about interesting issues that happened in the past and it shows much news that are not aired on TV. You can access news very fast, discuss some issues with other people over the internet, send some work to the teacher, talk to your friends and family that live in other countries. Furthermore people feel comfortable when they talk about a difficult situation. The internet can help shy people get a date.
Although the internet is the best invention, people can spend hours in front of the monitor and spend less time with their families and friends without leaving home. Besides that, they can keep very private photos on the internet, talk to dangerous people, etc... To sum up, we had better remember that we must have face-to-face contact with people and we really need to monitor internet users carefully.

Nowadays people have been involved more and more with the internet, for example: if you have homework or research to do, obviously you will use the internet to do the research. I am not talking about everybody, but I am talking about a great deal of them. On the other hand, while you are using the internet you miss a good chance to read a book or to study by another source and you spend a great part of your life in front of the computer. However, there are also advantages when the subject is internet. For example: you can chat with your friends by instant messengers while you are at home. Besides that, in my opinion a strong impact on people's lives is that you replace your real life for a virtual one.

Since the internet was created, life has changed. The communication is faster and cheaper, the telephone isn't new anymore, but the kind of anonymous expression on the internet gives us many problems like privacy problems.
When we think of communication the first thing that comes to our mind is the telephone, but nowadays the instant messengers, like MSN are very popular among teenagers, once it's very fast and doesn't cause problems to shy people.
The real problems of the internet are the way we use it. It has so many advantages, like: endless sources of information and intant communication, but inside it, the problems with privacy are more serious, mainly for kids that sometimes are very naive and may interact with dangerous people. We never know who is on the other side of the screen.

The new style of life
The internet symbolizes a new age. Today communication between two people in two different countries, for example, is possible. However, there are some controversies about this new technology and about this new way of communication means.
Some people believe that internet can make people be lazier, for example. Nowadays, it's not necessary to do shopping outdoors, because there are already virtual stores that make it possible. But, today, it's impossible to imagine the world without the internet.
This system can not only make communication easier, but also help us to do research about any topic. Because of these advantages the internet has been considered the most important new discovery in the world. Certainly, this technology symbolizes a new way of interaction for all human beings. I hope that human beings know how to use it instead of being used by it.

In fact, you use the internet not just for pleasure, but because nowadays it is very necessary.

The human communication is a process of exchanging information among people. It can happen thru symbols, the internet, instant messengers, phones and the phones.
Some people spend a lot of time on the internet. Some of them feel that it has reduced their time with friends, family and TV viewing.
People are getting addicted to it and they don't walk or go out anymore to stay in front of the computer. People that stay at home all day lose the personal contact, they are more alone, they don't make true new friends, they end up making virtual friends, that isn't the same thingh because on the internet, people can lie and we will never know whether what they say is true or false.
So, people have to become aware of the importance of personal contact and think that spending a long time in front of the computer isn't good, because it causes some problems, and one of them is an eye problem. People should surf the internet only when it's necessary or in their free time.
